At Primero, we believe that
sustainability is fundamental
to our success.

At the corporate level and in our relationships with our host communities, our prosperity depends on good corporate governance and building a solid framework for economic, community and environmental sustainability.

"Material" topics are the economic, environmental, social and governance matters of greatest importance to our stakeholders and to the company. It is essential that they are defined, as well as the threshold at which aspects become relevant enough that they should be reported.

Primero’s Material Issues in Order of Priority:

1 Health and safety
2 Community trust and social license to operate
3 Value creation and wealth distribution
4 Regulatory compliance
5 Water management

Tayoltita is the neighboring town to the San Dimas Mine, Primero’s flagship asset. In 2014, Primero, together with Silver Wheaton, built three recreational facilities in the town of Tayoltita, the home of most of San Dimas employees. For the first time, in this town approximately 8,000 people there are playgrounds, outdoor fitness facilities for adults, youth softball and soccer fields and a multipurpose court for basketball and volleyball. These facilities promote health and well-being and encourage positive interactions among families and friends within the community.

Community Partnership at Black Fox

Primero, Wahgoshig First Nation and Northern College have partnered in order for members of Wahgoshig First Nation to be able to earn a Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core certification not far from their community. The partnership will see two deliveries of Northern College’s Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core program at Primero’s Black Fox Complex, located just outside of Matheson. Each 14-week delivery will have room for six students, who will come from Wahgoshig First Nation. The program is being offered tuition free, thanks to funding provided by Ontario’s Aboriginal Economic Development Fund. Daily transportation to and from the training site, as well as additional student support, will be provided by Wahgoshig First Nation.
